Pirjo

Pirjo Sievänen (born 1960)

My art is feeling and ardor. Passion and light.

Painting the stories is like an expedition and a new reality. How different it is to read pictures rather than words. Each of my paintings tells their own story and I’m never quite sure myself of what the end result will be.
At first there’s a thought, idea and goal. Then there’s a feeling and surprising elements come along.

I make the bases of my paintings out of linen or plywood. It’s like the painting comes alive from that moment. Usually I paint with oil colors and the colors follow each other in order.
